CROE Celebrates The Life of Their Founder Munir Muhammad

The Coalition for the Remembrance of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad (C.R.O.E.) celebrates the life of Brother Munir Muhammad. Munir passed on July 9, 2019.

Munir Muhammad joined the Nation of Islam in 1972 and began reading the texts of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad. He co-founded The Coalition for the Remembrance of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad (C.R.O.E.) in 1987, along with Halif Muhammad and Shahid Muslim. C.R.O.E. is an institution dedicated to preserving the name, ideas, and accomplishments of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. The organization started as a small group of individuals meeting at Muhammad’s home on the South Side of Chicago to study and discuss Elijah Muhammad’s teachings and speeches.

In 1994, C.R.O.E. launched C.R.O.E. T.V.; and in 1997, the organization established the C.R.O.E. T.V. Production Studio in the West Englewood neighborhood. Muhammad served as the executive producer for C.R.O.E. T.V.

Over a span of 25 years, Muhammad hosted nearly 8,000 television programs. His programs included The Munir Muhammad Show and Muhammad and Friends. It was through this medium that many people were introduced to his engaging and passionate persona. His resume included interviews with countless dignitaries, elected officials, business, community and faith-based leaders at every level.

Muhammad interviewed numerous influential individuals, including Minister Louis Farrakhan, Cook County Board Presidents, John H. Stroger, and Toni Preckwinkle; Chicago Mayors, Richard M. Daley, and Rahm Emanuel and a host of other elected officials. C.R.O.E. T.V.’s programming broadcasts in many cities across the country.

Best known for his efforts at C.R.O.E., Muhammad also notably served on numerous boards and commissions such as the Illinois Human Rights Commission, Cook County Board of Corrections, Sheriff’s Committee on Religious Tolerance, Chicago Police Department Forum to Strengthen Relations between Police and Diverse Communities and the Superintendent of Police, Multi-Cultural Forum.

Muhammad leaves to cherish his beloved wife of nearly 49 years, Aminah Muhammad, his three children, siblings, family, and friends.
