Cortez Trotter to keynote Men’s Day at South Shore United Methodist

The Men of South Shore will host their Annual Men’s Day Celebration on Sunday, September 24, 2017 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the church, 7350 S. Jeffery Blvd., Chicago. Their theme is “Walk In the Light.” The morning worship service will feature an inspiring message from Deacon Cortez Trotter of Apostolic Church of God. Worship will be followed by a delicious meal. At 3:00 p.m. the men will continue with musical praise featuring several notable choirs and musicians.

Cortez Trotter, best known for his struggle against racism and discrimination, was Chicago’s first African American Fire Commissioner, and led sweeping changes in the department’s policies and practices. Trotter also served as the City of Chicago’s Chief Emergency Officer. He serves as a Deacon at Apostolic Church of God and is a Public Safety Consultant. He is a graduate of Dominican University and of Naval Postgraduate School.
