Local businessman and Gary native Jamal Rodgers also known as “Hustleman,” takes pride in his city and is always looking for ways to give back. As owner of establishments like Hy-Speed Car Wash, W.R. &S. Enterprise Towing and 24/7 Limo, he and other business owners in the city often come together to host events for residents of all ages. Last summer, it was a fireworks show and barbecue. In the fall of 2017, he hosted a successful comedy show that led him to reserve every first Friday at the Genesis Convention Center for all of 2018.
April 6, Rodgers will host the First Friday Comedy Show featuring comedians from Def Comedy Jam and BET Comic View.
“People are always saying that there is nothing to do in Gary,” said Rodgers. “I want to change that, and there are other fellow business owners in Gary who want to do the same.”
Rodgers likes to keep the ticket price low, so that there is no excuse for the house to be packed.
“For me, it’s not about making money,” he explained. “I just want the people of Gary to be able to enjoy great shows and entertainment in our own city.”
