CLEO TV brings groundbreaking series to Chicago’s Promontory

Recently, CLEO TV brought their groundbreaking, signature series “Cleo Speaks” to The Promontory in Chicago with special guest influencers and business owners Miko Branch, Shelah Marie, Afrobella and Signed Blake. “Cleo Speaks” highlights the personal stories and voices of influential women of color. The series has showcased a variety of these powerful women in politics, beauty, entertainment and business, including activist Tamika Mallory; activist and creator of the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite April Reign; co-host of “Sway In The Morning” Tracy Garraud; co-founder of Black Lives Matter Alicia Garza and more. LaTanya Butler, V.P. of Marketing and Partnerships, Content Distribution and Marketing at CLEO TV; Morgan Franklin, Coordinator of Content Distribution & Marketing at CLEO TV and Keesha Boyd, Executive Director of Multicultural Products at Xfinity, welcomed a room full of media, influencers and attendees with opening remarks and spoke to the importance of the network’s subject matter, and how CLEO TV’s collaboration with Xfinity has facilitated great strides in its mission to defy the negative stereotypes of today’s modern women. “This was a great collaboration with Xfinity Black Film and TV. We welcomed the opportunity to bring CLEO TV to the community and make a meaningful impact. Xfinity opened the door for women of color in Chicago to experience firsthand a network that authentically reflects their truth,” said Butler. “CLEO TV is making space for voices of color to be heard, so it makes perfect sense for us to be here in support of them as Xfinity Black Film & TV on demand is also about making space for stories about Black culture and identity to be seen, heard and enjoyed. We couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with CLEO TV in bringing authentic and empowering experiences like ‘Cleo Speaks’ to women,” added Boyd. Following their welcome, a screening of an episode of “Cleo Speaks” featuring national bestselling author, philanthropist and CEO of award-winning hair care brand Miss Jessie’s Miko Branch delighted the engaged crowd. iOne Digital journalist and producer Tia Brown then took the stage to introduce panelists Miko Branch, actress and founder of Curvy, Curly, Conscious Shelah Marie, beauty blogger Afrobella, and attorney and content creator Signed Blake. Brown moderated while the women discussed their personal and professional roads to success, challenges and failures they have faced in their lives, the need for balance in relationships and the importance of self-care and acceptance. Afterwards, the panelists answered a few questions for the audience.
