In support of our students and our larger Chicago community, City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) will host Be Well Chicago Fest, a community mental health and wellness event with free admission and health screenings at Kennedy-King College (KKC).
The fest will feature games, children’s activities, performances, free STD/HIV screenings, face painting, airbrush tattoos, Zumba, line dancing, spoken word and more. Fest attendees will also be treated to free snacks and goodie bags while they last. In addition, Harry S. Truman’s Cosmetology students will also offer mini manicures!
To dance or learn and participate in mindfulness and wellness activities, visit the KKC stages. The fest will be held in the Student Parking lot, 6343 S. Halsted Street in Chicago, at the college from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday, August 20, 2022.
The goal of the Be Well Chicago Fest is to offer mental wellness activities and connect CCC’s students and the community to resources and information about available mental health services. The fest will also showcase educational opportunities offered by City Colleges of Chicago. Participating vendors include the Chicago Public Library, New Community Outreach, Bright Star Community Outreach, YWCA Roseland, The Journey Forward, and E&ES.
Mental well-being is vital to the academic success of our students and our communities. This includes recognizing that all of our facets of wellness that include social, emotional, intellectual, and physical—are equally important.
