A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Saturday, April 30 for the grand opening of Gospel City Christian Entertainment Center, Gary’s first Christian center located in the Glen Park section of Broadway.

A family-owned business, Gospel City Christian Entertainment Center was initially the idea of two brothers Marion and Isaac Hunter. It was a vision from God that they wanted to do something different in their community. It was the two brothers and their wives that actually opened the business.

Kelshanna Hunter, wife of Marion, said it took the family two years to get the center up and running. She said this was the first time that the family has collaborated on a project like this together. The first event at the center will be a Mother’s Day Celebration with local inspirational authors, praise dancers, poetry readers and singers.

Kelshanna said they plan to use social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook to get the word out and draw an audience to their events. She said they have been receiving help from their pastor Rev. Roosevelt Bradley, who has a radio program that helps promote their efforts.

The center is capable of holding 100 people. Kelshanna says Gospel City Christian Entertainment Center is available for use by other organizations that wish to host Christian events.
