Rev. Jackson to speak at “Stop The Violence” visit at Simeon High School

Still distraught over the fatal shootings of Simeon High School students 15-year-old Kentrell McNeal and 15-year-old Jamri Williams in separate shootings just four hours apart, Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. is speaking to junior and senior students at the school 9:30 a.m., Thursday, October 7th, 8147 S. Vincennes Avenue.

“Somebody knows who shot these students,” said Rev. Jackson who turns 80 years old on Friday, October 8th. “We cannot allow our communities to become sanctuaries for killing.”

Jackson, who is disturbed over the escalation of gun violence in the black and brown communities, will make his remarks following a recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Protection that stated more children have been the victims of gun violence in Chicago in 2021 than have died from COVID-19 across the entire United States.

“This is unacceptable,” said Rev. Jackson. “We cannot continue to harbor killers in our communities.”
