Did the CDC Cover-Up A Vaccine/Autism Connection?

Have certain childhood vaccines caused an increase of autism in Black children, particularly boys? Was the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) involved in a cover-up of evidence to those facts?

These and other questions will be discussed during a Saturday, May 7 town hall meeting at Mosque Maryam featuring the producer and director of the documentary, “Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe.” The controversial film has captured the attention of families whose children have developed autism shortly after being vaccinated with the Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccine.

Additional attention to the issue came as the documentary was pulled from the popular Tribeca Film Festival run by famed actor Robert DeNiro. The actor publicly admitted regret in pulling the film under pressure from other filmmakers in the festival and has called for a national conversation on the issue.

“The main message is that the CDC hid data regarding the timing of the MMR vaccine and autism incidence in Black boys,” said town hall participant Dr. Brian Hooker, who analyzed CDC study data and found a risk of autism 240 percent greater in Black boys getting the vaccine during the prescribed ages of 12-18 months.

“The CDC chose to bury this information. It has never been reported to the public,” he continued. “I believe that the CDC scientists covering up this information, including the CDC director at the time, Dr. Julie Gerberding, have committed nothing short of scientific fraud,” he said.

The issue received attention in 2015 when the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan called for a press conference and rally outside the CDC headquarters in Atlanta raising questions about the alleged cover-up exposed by a prominent CDC scientist involved in the study.

Study co-author CDC Dr. William Thompson admitted he and other scientists omitted data that showed significant evidence of a connection between autism and Black boys from the published report. He has since been granted federal government whistleblower protection and has asked Florida Congressman Bill Posey to help him get subpoenaed to testify before Congress.

The town hall meeting will take place Saturday, May 7 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Mosque Maryam, 7351 S. Stony Island Ave. In addition to the documentary screening, a panel discussion will include Dr. Andrew Wakefield and Dr. Del Bigtree, the documentary’s producer and director respectively, Nation of Islam Ministers Ishmael Muhammad of Chicago and Tony Muhammad of Los Angeles, and Dr. Hooker, Epidemiologist, Ph. D. Researcher, Simpson University.

Popular WVON radio host Cliff Kelley will emcee the event.

“Most Black leaders are not aware of this issue. The ones who are have been bought off or believe in the lies that the CDC have been putting out,” said Min. Tony Muhammad, who introduced Robert Kennedy Jr., son of the slain former U.S. Attorney General Robert Kennedy, to Min. Farrakhan. Mr. Kennedy asked the popular minister to help bring attention to the cover-up because no other leader would touch it.

“The Pharmaceutical industry is very powerful. They are the richest lobby group in the world. Minister Farrakhan’s love is so deep for Black and oppressed people that no forces on earth can get him to sell our people out. He loves the truth and is a warner to our people,” Min. Tony said.
