Bulls win 118-116 over the Cleveland Cavaliers

Thanks to a game high 42 points by guard Zach LaVine, the Chicago Bulls captured their 16th win of the season with a victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday, January 18, at the United Center.

The Bulls fell behind by as many as 15 points going into the fourth quarter, then suddenly, Zach LaVine took over.

“Zach was dynamic,” said Jim Boylen, head coach of the Chicago Bulls.

“If that’s not an All-Star performance, I don’t know what is.”

Boylen praised LaVine’s All-Star performance as he’d score 21 of his game high 42 points in the fourth quarter.

Following a three-point field goal made by forward Lauri Markkanen, LaVine’s first basket came on a steal and a lay-up trimming the Cavaliers lead to 10 at 104-94 with 10:15 remaining in regulation.

His second and third baskets came on back to back lay-ups, while his fourth and fifth baskets came on two huge three pointers, giving him 12 points for the quarter.

His sixth basket came on his third three-pointer of the quarter, trimming the Cavaliers lead to one point at 107-106.

LaVine scored an amazing 15 points in less than four minutes, and exploded for six additional points to close out the game.

Final Score: Bulls 118, Cavaliers 116.

With the victory, the Bulls are now 16-29 on the season.

Chicago Crusader Player of the Game: Zach LaVine, Bulls, 42 points.
