The Chicago Bulls snapped their four-game losing streak on Sunday, January 17, with a 117-101 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on the road.

The Bulls were led by the hot shooting of forward Lauri Markkanen, who scored a team-high 29 points in the contest.

“I was a little short on my shot and trying to get my legs back,” said Markkanen via ESPN. “Conditioning wise, I feel pretty good. There was a stretch in the third quarter when I checked in and I felt like it was 20 seconds and I was gassed. Other than that little stretch, it was pretty good.”

In his second game back after missing several games due to COVID-19 protocol, Markkanen gave the Bulls the spark they needed. Markkanen and the Bulls refused to lose on Sunday after blowing a 22-point lead against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday, January 15.

Markkanen along with veteran Garrett Temple carried the Bulls to their fifth win of the season after scoring one big basket after another.

Temple, an 11-year veteran out of LSU, exploded for 21 points in the third quarter. His team outscored the Mavericks 28-26 in the fourth quarter.

Mavericks star Luka Doncic finished with a triple-double in the team’s loss on Sunday, posting a game-high 36 points, 16 rebounds, and 15 assists in the contest.

Final Score: Bulls 117, Mavericks 101.

During the win on Sunday versus the Mavericks, the Bulls received scoring contributions from forward Lauri Markkanen: 29 points (10 rebounds and 3 assists), Garrett Temple: 21 points (3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals): Thaddeus Young: 15 points (and 3 rebounds) Otto Porter Jr.: 14 points, Wendell Carter Jr.: 12 points and Zach LaVine added 10.
