Bulls beat Pistons 108-96 on the road

After earning a victory in front of the fans at the United Center who returned to action for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chicago Bulls improved to 29-39 on the season with a 108-96 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, May 9, on the road.

The Bulls were led by their Big 3 of Zach LaVine, Nikola Vucevic, and Coby White. LaVine led all scorers with 30 points, Vucevic finished second in scoring with 29 points, and White added 21 points.

“We know the challenge right now, and we came in with a lot of energy,” said LaVine via ESPN. “We’ve got to keep playing like this if we want a chance to keep our season alive.”

In the first half, the Bulls outscored the Pistons 28-18 in the first quarter and 29-21 in the second quarter to help build a 57-39 lead at halftime.

In the second half, the Bulls were outscored 57-51 to close out the game.

The Bulls kept their playoff chances alive on Sunday night with another victory against an Eastern Conference opponent. The Bulls swept the Pistons 3-0 in the series regular season finale. The Bulls have only five games left in the 2021 NBA regular season

The Bulls only remain 2-1/2 games out of the Eastern Conference 10th playoff spot.

“Those three really work well together, especially the way Coby and Vucevic have learnedhow to play off each other,” said Bulls coach Billy Donovan via ESPN. “I’d still rather have games where we have seven guys in double figures than relying just on those three, but they got it done tonight.”

Final Score: Bulls 108, Pistons 96.
