Black Women and Girls Symposium, “Power Moves: Strategies for Success,” Focuses on Pay Equity, Visibility and Inclusion in the Workplace

Congresswoman Robin Kelly will host a free symposium featuring some of Chicago’s most dynamic woman professionals in finance, labor, marketing and human resources offering guidance on negotiating pay raises and advancement, and successfully branding your talent and your business. The symposium, “Power Moves: Strategies for Success,” takes place Thursday, August 22, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, at Chicago State University, in the Breakey Theater located in Douglas Hall, 9501 S. King Drive, Chicago.

Dorri McWhorter, CEO of the YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago, will serve as keynote speaker and moderator. Through panels and interactive sessions, the symposium will also address small business development, dressing for success, and the gender-based wage gap that has placed Black women at a severe economic disadvantage regardless of their level of education or professional attainment. Pre-registration is encouraged at reprobinkelly.eventbrite.com.
