Black Real Estate Brokers Honor Rep. Ford

State Representative La Shawn K. Ford was honored at the recent “Unveiling the Mask of Home Ownership” event hosted by the Dearborn Realtist Board. The purpose of the event was to bring forth the challenges today that limit the opportunity to build wealth through real estate for Blacks while collaborating statewide across all agencies and entities on a comprehensive housing strategy.

“It’s only with the leadership State Representative La Shawn K. Ford exemplifies that enables organizations like ours to drive forward on truly moving the needle statewide on wealth building for Blacks through home ownership and real estate development,” said the Dearborn Realtist group.

The “2019 State of Housing in Black America” event helped to share statistics on where Black America stands as it relates to home ownership and how they can get involved.

The Dearborn Realtist Board is the local chapter of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB), which was formed in 1947 out of a need to secure the right to equal housing opportunities, regardless of race, creed or color. Since its inception, NAREB has participated in and promoted meaningful challenges and supported legislative initiatives to ensure fair housing for all Americans. Today NAREB has 90 chapters located nationwide.
