Those wanting to experience Michigan City’s Barker Mansion after hours are invited to a sleepover for adults on Saturday, May 27 beginning at 7 pm Central Time. During the first-time event, participants will be able to set out an air mattress and sleeping bag in select mansion rooms.
“We’ve taken requests for a ‘grown-up’ sleepover for quite some time now,” said Director Jessica Rosier. “We regularly offer scout sleepovers for the little kids, but adults always felt like they were missing out. We took the kid’s format and jazzed it up a bit for the grown-ups.”
The evening will feature a Behind the Scenes Tour and a choice of three activities: Finger Foods of the 1920’s, Retro Jewelry Making, or White Glove Expedition. Classic films and card games will be available for playing throughout the night as well. The 18+ event will commence on Sunday, May 28 at 9 a.m. after breakfast in the mansion gardens.
“We want folks to understand that this will be a very social event,” said Rosier. “In many cases, they will be sharing rooms with complete strangers who will have become close friends by the end of the event. We do have a few private rooms available, though.”
A cost of $85 per person or $160 per couple applies, which includes a welcome gift. Reservations are required by calling (219) 873-1520. Upon registration, participants will be able to choose which room they would like to sleep in for the evening; a complete list is available on the mansion’s Facebook page at www.-facebook.com/barkermansion.
