Injury Attorney Kenneth J. Allen is donating 1,000 Thanksgiving dinners to Lake County families in need. Each family will receive a turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, beans, and a pie.

The turkey dinners will be distributed on Monday, November 25, at the Wicker Park Social Center in Highland. Attorney Allen is working in concert with Lake Area United Way to distribute the dinners to those families most in need. Families and individuals are required to register for a “meal voucher” in order to receive a food basket. Specific household eligibility guidelines apply based on family size and can be accessed on the registration website. The distribution is open to Lake County residents only. Anyone that is interested should visit www.lauw.org/thanksgiving to register.

“I’m passionate about helping others and giving back to the community,” Allen said. “Growing up in Gary and working in the mills and the trades, I’ve seen first-hand the hardship families face when jobs are lost by layoffs or cutbacks as often occurs this time of year. Good people in difficult times deserve help.”

“Practicing law in Northwest Indiana has been a true blessing, and I want to share my blessing with others. I also hope others who can will step up and recognize the need to give back to the community so that no person goes hungry, especially on Thanksgiving.”

“We’re excited to be working with Mr. Allen for a fourth year and to be able to bring even more Thanksgiving baskets to families in need in Lake County,” said Lisa Daugherty, President & CEO of Lake Area United Way. “We’re also excited to provide such a great opportunity for volunteers to give back and help out this holiday season.”

Over the years, Injury Attorney Allen has donated hundreds of thousands to needy families in Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland, sponsoring programs like Reading Buddies, which promotes child literacy in Lake and Porter Counties, the Kidstop program, providing a safe environment and engaging place for children before and after school, and supplying winter coats for kids as well as gift cards for parents to purchase Christmas gifts for their children.
