ArtBash 2016 Brings Second City to Michigan City

Lubeznik Center for the Arts

On July 9, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. (CDT) Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) will host ArtBash 2016, LCA’s premier annual fundraising event, at Blue Chip Stardust Event Center. All proceeds will support LCA programs and outreach – enabling LCA to mount nine outstanding contemporary art exhibitions during the year, deliver art, music and dance for 800+ children and adults weekly, and provide leadership to local economic development initiatives.

In 2016, ArtBash is a lively evening of political “spoofery” with headline entertainment by Chicago’s very own Second City Works.

Second City Works comedic actors will perform a high-energy improvisation set with plenty of audience input and participation. Actors will be utilizing the vast amount of material available during this rocky presidential election year for an evening of good bi-partisan fun.

The Second City opened its doors on a snowy Chicago night in December of 1959, and has since grown to become the world’s premier comedy club, theatre and school of improvisation-with live shows every night in Chicago, Toronto and Hollywood. The Second City has been a launching pad for comedians, actors, directors and others working in show business. Notable alumni include Dan Aykroyd, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Bill Murray, Mike Myers, Catherine O’Hara, Gilda Radner, among many others.

Make a positive impact on the arts within the community while mingling with others who share the same passion. Guests can join in the political spoofery when finding their table and can participate in the Wine Grab. Experience scrumptious food and libations, bid by text during the interactive auction. Listen for the Michigan City High School Wolf Pack Marching Band who will be adding musical interjections during cocktails.

The interactive auction features tickets to the Broadway hit “Hamilton: and American Musical” in Chicago. You can also escape reality with a private glider ride or a Blue Chip Dinner & Spa package, and much more. Anyone, regardless of whether they attend ArtBash or not, can make bids online now through the end of the auction on July 9. The auction can be accessed through lubeznikcenter.com.
