34th annual Say No To Drugs & Violence parade & College Resource fair

Longest & Largest Parade on City’s West Side

We’re excited to announce that yes there’s also a lot of good going on in Chicago’s West Side Austin neighborhood – – much more than just bad reports and violence. And the start of the new school year begins in approximately 30 days. Both of these are cause for Community Celebration!! And we’re having one on Saturday, July 30, 2022

We invite you to join us for this exciting, dynamic, NOT TO BE MISSED family-focused event! This will become abundantly clear on Saturday, July 30, 2022, when the 34th Annual “SAY NO TO DRUGS & VIOLENCE PARADE AND COLLEGE RESOURCE FAIR” kicks off at 10 am, at

4941 West Chicago Avenue. The nonprofit Arthur Lockhart Resource Institute and Healing Temple C.O.G.I.C. Church sponsor this annual extravaganza, under the spiritual leadership of Pastor Larry Lockhart, and in partnership with the offices of local elected officials: 37th Ward Alderman Emma Mitts and 8th District Illinois State Rep LaShawn K. Ford.

In a few short days, the largest local neighborhood parade and college resource fair on the city’s west side will once again unveil an exciting roster of fun-filled activities as part of the day’s lineup. The Parade is chock full of Marching Bands, Floats, Marchers! And the community and faith- oriented celebration includes FREE Food, Music and Entertainment, FREE Book Bag & School- Supplies Giveaways, including a College and Trade School Resource Fair & Scholarship Presentations, Neighborhood Vendors and MORE!!!

“We’re calling on all interested families, youth, local residents community members to come out and join us on July 30th ! Today more than ever, we must support, encourage, and redirect the energies of our local youth from violence into positive endeavors for today and the future!”, said Dr. Elizabeth Lockhart, the staunch business neighborhood advocate who serves as Executive Director of the Arthur Lockhart Resource Institute. 2022 represents the 34th Anniversary of the parade, whose legacy began under the stewardship of their father, the late and widely respected West Side clergyman and progressive community advocate, Rev. Dr. Arthur Lockhart.

All activities kick-off at Healing Temple C.O.G.I.C. Church, 4941 West Chicago Avenue. Supporting Say No To Drugs & Violence Parade and College – Trade School Resource Fair sponsors include Pepsi, CITGO, West Side Health Authority, Chicago State University and City Colleges of Chicago, Pete’s Fresh Market, Safe & Peaceful Chicago, INTROSPECT, ComEd, AAABNA, Queen Liz Gospel, Oak Park Regional Housing Center, Oak Park Bank, Peoples Gas and Habilitative Systems.
