2018 TASTE of Thornton Township – Aug. 25

On Saturday, August 25, 2018, at 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., Thornton Township will hosts its 17th Annual TASTE of Thornton Township Celebration, located at South Suburban College, 15800 S. State Street, South Holland, Illinois.

The TASTE of Thornton Township is sponsored by MB Financial Bank, Nicor Gas, Burger King, Gift of Hope Network, Thornton Township School District 205, Excel Printing & Mailing, Ma’Dear Home Services Inc., and many others.

Frank M. Zuccarelli, President of Thornton Township said, “The Taste is one of our largest events and brings people throughout Thornton Township in one place to enjoy great live music, food and family entertainment.”

Trustee Joyce M. Washington is the Chairperson for Thornton Township’s Human Relations Commission (HRC) and for the Taste of Thornton Township special event Tui M. Muse is the Chairman of the event, and Bert Rivera is the Co-Chairman.

Trustee Washington said, “This event is for the community to come together and enjoy food, entertainment, family and friends. We appreciate our great community. This year’s Taste of Thornton Township will have a variety of entertainment for attendees from as far as Chicago, Indiana, and local residents.”

“South Suburban College is our new venue this year, we were able to expand like never before,” said Ernst Lamothe Jr., Thornton Township Public and Community Relations Manager.

“A variety of food will be offered- Ribs, hot dogs, hamburgers, catfish, jerk chicken, turkey legs, Italian sausage and beef, nachos, cheesecake, snow cones, Italian ice, specialty teas, and much, much, more,” said Delia Medina, Event Planner for Thornton Township.

The great R&B musical group Lakeside will be the highlight of the Taste entertainment. Other entertainment will include Thornton Township Youth Mexican Folkloric Dancers, Line Dancing, Chicago Boyz Acrobats, “Rico” – Michael Jackson Impersonator, “Tony Wilson” – James Brown Impersonator, “Dorothy Roberson” – Tina Turner Impersonator, Visions of Santana, Past Life and a cameo appearance by Trysh Granberry – “America’s Got Talent” Contestant.

Medina further states, “This will be the first year for the Antique Classic Car Show.” Napleton River Oaks Car Dealership is sponsoring the Car Show and is from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Registration is from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 p.m. and there is a $20 Registration Fee.

“Thornton Township has been hosting the Taste for 17 years. This year’s Taste will be even larger and is an all-day event. There are a lot of free activities for the kids – face painting, carnival rides, games, back to school haircuts, and book bags with school supplies,” Delia Medina said.
