The 100 Black Men of Chicago, Inc. will host their 15th Annual Holiday Party and Toy Drive on December 6th from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event will be held at the Old Crow Smokehouse, 149 West Kinzie, in River North. The toys, and proceeds from the party, will be donated to underserved families with children at select Chicago-area schools, community organizations and shelters before Christmas.
Organizations benefitting from this year’s event include Mujeres Latinas en Accion, Proviso Leyden Council for Community Action (PLCCA), Grand Lodge, Clara’s House, Englewood CBC, WECAN, Simpson Academy, Inspiration Corp, Ronald McDonald House, Joshua Johnston, Impact Family Center, Pendersen-McCormick Boys and Girls Club and Kids off the Block.
Admission to the event is a new, unwrapped toy, or clothing item valued at $20 or more. Guests may also purchase a ticket to the event for $25. Those not able to attend the event may also donate online, or mail their gifts to 100 Black Men of Chicago headquarters, 3473 S. Martin Luther King Dr., Suite 206. This year’s event, sponsored by Walmart, FedEx and MillerCoors, will have music, heavy appetizers and a cash bar. Festive holiday attire is suggested.
The Holiday Party and Toy Drive began because the organization saw a need in the local community to support families who were experiencing difficulties during the holidays. “This event continues to grow and benefit more children in the Chicagoland area,” said Carl Tutt, president of the 100 BMC. “We have some amazing partners who assist in making the season a bit brighter for children who might not otherwise have the best holiday,” Tutt added.
