How and why to hire a Veteran business Summit

By Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs

Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA) will be hosting a Summit titled “How & Why to Hire a Veteran.” This event will be taking place on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Marriott Indianapolis Downtown, 350 West Maryland Street in Indianapolis, IN.

There will be a Meet and Greet the day before on May 31 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Marriott Indianapolis Downtown. IDVA has a block of hotel rooms at a discounted rate for individuals that need a room the night of May 31, 2016. The only costs attendees should have at this Summit are hotel room(s) and parking expenses if needed.

The guest speakers will be Adjutant General, Major General Courtney P. Carr, who will address the transition of veterans from military duty to civilian employment and the transition from college students to civilian employment. Governor Mike Pence appointed Carr as the Adjutant General of Indiana in 2015. His primary focus is to lead the Indiana Army and Air National Guard, the Indiana Guard Reserve and State employees all totaling over 15,800 personnel to meet state and federal missions.

Breakout sessions will include: companies who have a veteran organization within their business, resumes with military specific language, and much more. This will be a very helpful Summit for companies looking to hire veterans.

This Summit will be free of charge and a continental breakfast, hot lunch, and afternoon snack will be provided.

Because space is limited anyone that completes the registration process and needs to cancel later should contact the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs as soon as possible.
