Comedian Ricky Harris dies

Actor and comedian Ricky Harris has died.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harris’ manager, Cindy Ambers, delivered the news Monday.

He was 54.

Harris, whose numerous credits in both television, film and music include Heat, Poetic Justice, and Everyone Hates Chris, is said to have passed away from a heart attack on Monday. Harris worked with Snoop Dogg on several of his rap albums, having contributed to cameos and skits appearing on his work.

Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and other notable entertainers took to social media to pay their respects.

Harris, a native of Long Beach, CA., first hit the entertainment scene in the early ’90s when he did stand up on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam. More recently, he appeared on the critically acclaimed FX series The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. Harris was slated to star in Thomas J. Churchill’s forthcoming film Check Point, which is set to premiere in theaters Jan. 20.

He is survived by his mother, ex-wife Dee Barnes and two daughters.
